Whitney Bembenek is Senior Community Development Specialist at the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, where she designs and runs workforce and small business programming that connects local workers and businesses to public contracts and infrastructure opportunities. It's civic work with a climate dimension: ensuring that the people building the clean energy transition are also the people who benefit from it.

She came to this role with over eight years of experience in strategic community engagement, leadership development, and storytelling, building a career around connecting people to processes that shape their communities.

Terra.do gave Whitney the technical foundation and the network to connect that community-building work to climate solutions, particularly her growing interest in regenerative cultures, doughnut economics, and public policy.

Whitney's work is a reminder that climate transition is also workforce transition. The communities doing the building should be among the first to benefit from it.
