Description

TriMet Vehicle Engineering, part of the Engineering and Construction Division, is looking for an Associate Project Manager to support new and existing projects. Vehicle Engineering leads the procurement of light rail vehicles for system expansions and replacements, manages decommissioning of retiring rail vehicles, and supports an existing fleet of 149 LRVs and six commuter rail cars.

Responsibilities

• Assist with managing work related to projects such as vehicle procurement, retrofits, modifications, and evaluating vehicle performance
• Work closely with various departments to deliver improvements
• Utilize existing standards and assist in refining standardization practices
• Support the direction and management of projects
• Ensure commitment to safety through effective leadership
• Perform related duties as required

Essential Functions

1. Assist with processing of contract documents, submittals, meeting minutes, and invoices
2. Coordinate project activities with internal TriMet staff, consultants, and contractors
3. Process documents pertaining to design, installation, and testing of changes to existing rail vehicles and equipment
4. Maintain project records and technical files
5. Document and verify safety certification of rail vehicle system installations and equipment
6. Witness performance and document testing for rail vehicle system installations and equipment
7. Troubleshoot problems that occur during testing

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Rail Vehicle, or Structural Engineering
• 1 year of general experience with engineering or transportation projects
• Experience with engineering documentation and drawings control
• Desired: experience directly applicable to passenger rail vehicle and systems engineering

Selection Criteria

• Type of Position: Grade 13 Exempt Non Union Limited Term
• Salary Range: Minimum $75,186.00 - Maximum $112,779.00
• Salary offers will be determined based on education, training, and relevant experience
