Objective of Position
The Process Weld Engineer oversees engineering projects and supports line developments to ensure production process support. They participate and lead advanced welding engineering projects and support new line developments according to welding regulations and customer specifications.
Responsibilities and Technical Skills
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor production of prototypes and jig manufacturing related to welding techniques.
- Coordinate and standardize welding and cutting accessories, including stocking.
- Further develop welding standards.
- Monitor welding quality and support production in troubleshooting welding problems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives particularly with regard to welding technique and cutting method.
- Act as primary training source for welding operations and engineering.
- Set up reporting and information system for manufacturing plant while considering global regional standards.
- Enforce safety procedures and provide support for all assigned activities.
Required/Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in weld engineering or equivalent work experience.
- 2 years in manufacturing; automotive manufacturing preferred.
- Weld certified.
- Basic computer skills such as MS Office; PLEX preferred.
Technical Skills
- Troubleshooting.
- Metallurgy.
- MIG and Robotic welding.
Soft Skills
- Time management.
- Team-oriented.
- Critical thinking.
- Adaptability.
- Communication skills are a MUST.
