**Engineering** **Location:** Rockville, Maryland **Job Type:** Full-time, Exempt **Hours:** 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Mon-Fri

Description

X Energy LLC is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for the design and development of mechanical systems and components. This includes concept development, evaluation of concepts, analysis of systems and components for their ability to perform their intended function, and ensuring they meet all technical specifications and requirements. The engineer will ensure the development of the systems and components through production, including any necessary prototyping, testing, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical physical concepts, design, and support development of processes to create structures, systems, and components (SSCs).
  • Understand how nuclear safety relates to system engineering and daily work.
  • Identify and document requirements, interfaces, design basis, and criteria by coordinating with stakeholders and senior engineers.
  • Create and maintain CAD-generated engineering models.
  • Plan and analyze aspects of SSCs to ensure they meet technical requirements.
  • Perform computations using hand calculations and analytical tools for structural and thermal-hydraulic calculations.
  • Support the assessment of SSCs for manufacturability and integration considerations.
  • Write and develop design documentation according to procedures.
  • Provide independent reviews of engineering deliverables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5-9 years of engineering experience required.
  • Nuclear experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with hand calculations and analytical software.
  • Familiarity with structural, fluid dynamics, or thermal-hydraulic calculations.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team and produce desired outputs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, teams, and PDF editing tools.

Work Site Expectations

  • On-site work in Rockville, MD.
  • 15% travel expected.
