**Bush Heritage** Bush Heritage Australia, an independent leading conservation not-for-profit, operates to make a very real contribution to the protection of Australia's unique wildlife and its habitat. Bush Heritage's vision of Healthy Country protected forever sees the business work where they are needed most in areas of high conservation value with low levels of protection. Currently, Bush Heritage owns 37 reserves and protects and helps to manage 11.3 million hectares of land across the country.

Bush Heritage seeks to return the bush to good health, providing habitat for 6,700 native species, including at least 226 threatened species. Two proven approaches underline what Bush Heritage does: carefully selecting, purchasing, and managing landscapes of high conservation value, and working in partnership with others, including Traditional Owners, to achieve key conservation outcomes.

**Your Opportunity** Bush Heritage Australia is looking for a full-time Healthy Landscape Manager based in Pilungah Reserve, Queensland. This role reports to the Head of Region North and is accountable for coordinating the people, land management, and ecological activities on Bush Heritage's Pilungah and Ethabuka reserves, supporting program development of Aboriginal and community partnerships.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading landscape initiatives and fostering local community relationships
  • Managing and developing the reserve staff and volunteers
  • Planning and overseeing conservation projects
  • Maintaining assets and infrastructure on reserves
  • Engaging with media and supporters to promote conservation outcomes
  • Developing strategic conservation management and operational work plans
  • Monitoring project progress and adapting strategies based on findings
  • Ensuring safety and compliance in all operations

**What You'll Need** To qualify, you will need a tertiary qualification or extensive practical experience relating to land and natural resource management. Prior experience in conservation or similar roles will be considered essential. Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in managing staff and volunteers
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management practices
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Experience in road works, fire management, weed work, feral animal control, repairs and planning, fencing, stock management, neighbour relations, basic machinery maintenance, chainsaw use, 4WD offroading experience (training available if required)
  • First Aid Certificate or commitment to obtain at own expense prior to employment
  • State/Territory Firearms Awareness Certificate or commitment to obtain at Bush Heritage expense prior to employment

We are seeking a committed and proactive individual ready to drive significant environmental and community outcomes in the Pilungah Reserve. Please note: A manual driver's license is an essential requirement for this role.
