Frequently asked questions
The climate fellowship is a 12-week journey through climate science, solutions, and action to enable and empower professionals seeking to increase their climate impact and identify how their skills can best accelerate climate solutions
Anyone who wants a grand overview of the entire climate landscape. Anyone who wants to shift their time & energy into doing climate work. High-school level familiarity with math and science is a plus, but not essential.
The course is 12 weeks long and starts with introductory sessions in Week 1. To accommodate for a diverse global pool of participants, most classes are asynchronous so you can decide when to go through them during the week. Our Slack channel for the cohort also facilitates asynchronous discussions between groups. All live sessions will be recorded for later viewing, though we encourage you to attend live where possible. The main live sessions run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (US time), with other optional sessions throughout the week.
Being a climate fellow means joining a global community of 2,000+ learners and graduates acting on climate solutions now who are all invested in your personal and career development toward climate action.
Absolutely!
The 12-week’s of our Climate Change: Learning for Action (LFA) course can be life changing – and we want to make sure that fellows who work full-time and have other commitments can fully engage with and benefit from the program.
Good news, you are not alone!
Our fellows who work full time while in LFA find the experience to be quite rewarding – and find LFA provides them with the built-in community and support they need while juggling all of life’s many priorities.
We support you in balancing the LFA program with other commitments by offering a wealth of asynchronous learning materials, event recordings, one-on-one instructor support, and a global community that can be accessed whenever it’s most convenient for you.
Most fellows dedicate 6-10 hours per week to LFA. If you can’t commit to at least this amount of time, this fellowship might not be the best fit for you. We often suggest aiming for ‘an hour a day for LFA’ to help fellows stay on track!
That’s ok!
Many fellows have successfully completed LFA despite planned and unplanned offline periods of up to two weeks. Our asynchronous learning materials, event recordings, and always-accessible community make it easy for fellows to catch up quickly after being offline.
We want this program to work for learners of all stripes, regardless of individual or organizational ability to pay. Please apply—we will make every effort to accommodate the circumstances of qualified students. If it helps, we can offer you an instalment-based payment schedule where you pay the course fee in 3 parts. Have a scholarship offer from another climate fellowship/course?Terra.do will match it.
Yes. Our plan is to run a new cohort every 6 weeks. If you’re interested in a future cohort, please mention it in your application.
If you’re less than 3 weeks in, we’ll refund you 100%. Our only request is that you give us feedback so we can make improvements.
Terra.do’s Learning for Climate Action:
LFA is a global climate leadership program that empowers change-makers in all sectors, industries, and professions, including entrepreneurship. Terra.do is driven by the philosophy that it takes all of us to solve the climate crisis and that you can’t solve a problem you don’t understand.
LFA Fellows are guided to find their role in climate through a combination of classes, live guest talks, and weekly online interactive sessions. The course materials simplify and distill key points to explain climate science and its impacts, climate politics, economics, systems thinking, and mental frameworks before moving into solutions with an emphasis on climate justice.
LFA provides personalized pathfinding and deeper community connections through 1:1 mentorship, group assignments, and smaller group settings led by instructors with advanced climate degrees.
Climatebase:
Climatebase is an accelerator focused on building careers in climate technology and enhancing entrepreneurial skills through fellow-led, self-organized capstone projects. Course material is delivered through a series of live lectures, guest talks and a suggested reading list of source materials, such as the IPCC reports.
