About the event

What if the climate strategy most plans leave out is the one that makes all the others work?

When heat waves hit, floodwaters rise, or the trains stop running, Disabled people are among the first harmed and the last consulted. That gap isn’t just unjust. It’s a design flaw in climate action, and fixing it makes every plan stronger.

In this live, captioned session, Disabled advocate Nico Meyering shares field-tested strategies for accessible climate action and inclusive sustainability. You’ll learn how to build disability inclusion into climate resilience, public transit, extreme heat planning, green events, and community campaigns. The tools come from real wins in Philadelphia, and you can use them anywhere in the world to design climate solutions that work for everyone.

Bring your questions. Leave with a plan. When we design with Disabled people, everybody wins. The curb cut proved it.

Immersive Art for a Vanishing World: Clare Celeste Börsch on Biodiversity, Beauty, and the Power of Storytelling

American-born and Berlin-based, artist Clare Celeste Börsch creates large-scale, immersive installations composed of thousands of images of flora and fauna -- vivid tributes to our planet’s extraordinary, yet imperiled, biodiversity.

Shaped by her childhood in Brazil, where lush tropical ecosystems met the encroaching industrial landscapes of its cities, Clare’s work is a meditation on what we’ve lost and what we still have to protect. With 70% of the world’s biodiversity destroyed since 1970, her art challenges the illusion of separateness between humans and the natural world, reminding us that we “breathe the breath of trees.”

In this talk, Clare will share:

  • How formative experiences in the Brazilian jungle and city shaped her creative vision
  • The process of transforming thousands of images into immersive environments
  • Why art and storytelling can reawaken our connection to the planetHow beauty can move people toward ecological action
