ERA Planning and Environment is seeking a Stakeholder Engagement Consultant in Hobart, TAS, Australia. The role involves designing and delivering community engagement strategies for diverse projects across Tasmania. Applicants should have 5-7 years of professional experience, including 2 years in stakeholder engagement, and a background in urban design or strategic planning. ERA Planning and Environment are Tasmania’s specialists in planning, environmental consulting and stakeholder engagement. We are looking for a values-driven Stakeholder Engagement Consultant with an urban design or strategic planning background to join our team.

Role and responsibilities

As a Stakeholder Engagement Consultant, you’ll work alongside the wider ERA team to design, plan and deliver best-practice engagement programmes on projects across Tasmania.

ERA’s projects are as diverse as the communities we work with. This role is an exciting opportunity to dig into a wide range of sectors spanning policy and regulation, strategic planning, infrastructure and major projects, and community and place-based strategies.

This variety means the work is multi-faceted and often requires collaborating with diverse communities and interdisciplinary project teams. Confidence in decoding and interpreting complex ideas for varying audiences is a must.

Key role responsibilities:
• Designing stakeholder and community engagement strategies and plans, taking ownership from inception to delivery.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, key stakeholders and communities.
• Delivery of digital and face-to-face engagement activities, including running workshops, hosting pop up sessions, and conducting interviews.
• Set up and management of online engagement tools, including interactive mapping, surveys and social media monitoring.
• Analysis of findings and reporting on engagement outcomes.
• Project management and administration, with an emphasis on planning ahead to ensure key milestones are met within set timeframes.
• Collaborating with our wider team to contribute engagement and urban design input on strategic planning and other community benefit projects.

About you

You’re a values-led professional who is enthusiastic about making a difference. In your experience, the positive impact achieved with a best practice approach is worth the extra effort.

You understand the importance that keen organisation plays in running a successful engagement project and you’re comfortable taking ownership over jobs with the support of senior engagement practitioners.

You pride yourself on your exceptional interpersonal skills, relationship management experience, and ability to quickly to perceive the core of the matter at hand.

Along with the above, successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:
• Total professional experience between 5 and 7 years, including at least 2 years’ experience in stakeholder engagement
• An urban design or strategic planning background
• Previous experience in a consulting role
• Experience with engagement management tools (Social Pinpoint, Consultation Manager, survey design software, etc.)
• Project management or administrative experience
• Willingness to travel and occasionally work evenings or weekends to deliver engagement events across Tasmania.

The following will be highly regarded, but are not compulsory:
• IAP2 qualification
• Experience working across additional state & territory jurisdictions
• Design or communications background
• Experience with the Adobe CC Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, etc.)
