Job Overview

As an Outdoor Education Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing outdoor activities for children. You will create a safe and engaging environment while nurturing curiosity and exploration. Your role will also involve submitting remote lesson plans for approval and collaborating with colleagues to ensure high-quality educational experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement weekly and daily outdoor lesson plans
• Lead nature-based learning activities for children ages 3-11
• Foster a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
• Assist children with outdoor exploration, ensuring safety and support
• Submit remote lesson plans for review and approval
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and parents
• Adapt lessons to accommodate a variety of learning styles and needs
• Conduct activities that promote environmental awareness and appreciation
• Lead children on hikes and nature walks in varying weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong interest in Outdoor Education, Environmental Science, and Naturalist skills
• Experience designing curriculum and creating lesson plans for outdoor education
• Previous experience leading outdoor activities and nature-based learning
• Minimum of 1 year working with children ages 3-11 years old
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, nurturing, and child-centered approach
• Knowledge of local flora and fauna of the Los Angeles area
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Reliable means of transportation
• Ability to hike/walk 1.5-2 miles per day in all weather conditions
• Ability to collaborate professionally and effectively with colleagues
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Environmental Science, or related field/experience

Compensation:
• $20.75-$24.25 per hour, based on experience
