About the position
As an Environmental Technician at USFS, you will be an integral part of a dedicated crew responsible for a variety of environmental remediation and decontamination projects. Your role will involve working on tasks such as soil sampling, excavation, transportation, and disposal, as well as bioremediation and in-situ remediation efforts. You will also be engaged in spill sampling and cleanup, tank decontamination, and removal and disposal of hazardous materials. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and environmental standards, as you will be working in confined spaces and handling potentially hazardous materials. In addition to environmental remediation, you will be involved in confined space tank cleaning, which includes the decontamination and demolition of manufacturing plants, tanks, and structures. You will utilize non-hazardous, biodegradable degreasing agents to clean impacted surfaces, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Your responsibilities will also extend to the management of NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material) services, particularly for bulk chemical and fuel terminals, industrial process tanks, and other related facilities. Transportation duties will include the delivery and transfer of drilling mud, fresh and brine water, and the hauling and disposal of wet and dry drilling cuttings. Experience in sandblasting and painting is a plus, and candidates with a mid-level CDL will receive an increased rate of pay. The position may require overnight stays at motels or hotels, as most projects are out of town. While overtime is typical, it is not guaranteed, and the pay rate will be commensurate with your skills, experience, and certifications.
