About the position
The Education Associate position with the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education (CAEE) is part of the Environmental Education Corps (eeCorps) AmeriCorps Program, which aims to enhance environmental literacy among PreK-12 students across Colorado. This role is crucial in supporting the delivery, development, and creation of environmental and water education programming at the CSU Spur campus, particularly in the Hydro Building, which includes a teaching lab, backyard space, and trail space along the South Platte River. The Education Associate will engage with diverse audiences, including students and visitors, to foster a deeper understanding of environmental issues, water conservation, river ecosystems, and ecology. The individual will work closely with teachers, schools, and environmental education providers to expand the reach and impact of environmental education programming. This involves not only delivering educational content but also innovating and developing new programming that aligns with the goals outlined in the Colorado Environmental Education Plan. The position requires a commitment to community service and a passion for creating positive change through education. The role is designed for someone who is enthusiastic about environmental education and has the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences. The Education Associate will also be expected to adapt to a variable schedule, which may include evenings, weekdays, and weekends, to meet the needs of the programming and the community.
Responsibilities
• Support the delivery of environmental and water education programming in the Hydro Building.

• Develop and create innovative programming around environmental education, water conservation, river ecosystems, and ecology.

• Engage with PreK-12 audiences and visitors to enhance their understanding of environmental issues.

• Collaborate with teachers and environmental education providers to expand the reach of educational programming.

• Assist in the implementation of the goals outlined in the Colorado Environmental Education Plan.
Requirements
• Ethic of national and community service and a strong desire to create positive change.
,
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
,
• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel).

• Ability to pass criminal history checks required.
,
• Reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance required.
,
• U.S. Citizenship or lawful permanent resident status required.
Nice-to-haves
• 2 years' experience working with children, families, and multigenerational audiences.

• Demonstrated experience and comfort in public speaking or public demonstrations.
,
• Available to serve a variable weekly schedule, including evenings, weekdays, and weekends.

• Ability to communicate with program constituents in both Spanish and English is preferred.
