Job Description

Reva Medical LLC is seeking a Chemical Lab Technician in San Diego, CA, responsible for supporting the production of monomers and polymers for medical devices. Key duties include performing chemical processes, maintaining lab equipment, preparing samples for analysis, and supporting R&D projects. Candidates should have a BS/BA in Chemistry or equivalent experience, and knowledge of polymer processing is desirable. This is a full-time position with a salary of $25–32 per hour.
Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The role of the Chemistry Lab Technician is to support production of monomers and polymers for REVA intravascular medical devices, as well as to provide manufacturing assistance for REVA R&D chemical operations. Some of the following tasks may include but are not limited to:
• Perform wet chemical processes to produce monomers, polymer and related products with well-defined manufacturing instructions.
• Perform the setting up of chemistry equipment for daily manufacturing activities.
• Responsible for maintaining the chemistry equipment, including cleaning, calibrations and preventative maintenance.
• Support development of bench scale processes and techniques for novel projects.
• Prepare samples for instrumental physical and chemical analysis such as GPC, HPLC, DSC, GCMS, NMR, KF, and TGA.
• Perform process qualification testing and inspections, when required.
• Execute experiment protocols and studies, when required.
• Write technical summaries including lab notebook entries with detailed records.
• Maintain the laboratory by organizing and ordering supplies, lab housekeeping and maintaining equipment.
• Provide support to research and development projects, when required.

Education and/or Experience
• BS/BA in Chemistry, or 2 years college with completed courses of general, organic and analytical chemistry, or 2+ years of industrial experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
• Knowledge of polymer processing and analyses is desirable.
• Clean room/medical device manufacturing experience and familiarity with ISO 9001 or GMP/GLP documentation/processes is desirable.
Required Knowledge/Skills
• Must have experience in the operation of basic lab equipment and general chemical lab safety.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Operate manual and computerized equipment following specified safety measures.
• Possess good analytical and laboratory skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
