Maryland Environmental Service is hiring an Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer, or Project Engineer for its Technical and Environmental Services Group in Millersville, MD. Candidates should have experience in stormwater design and hydraulic modeling. Job Description:

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for an Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer, Associate Engineer II, Project Engineer, or Project Engineer II to join the Technical and Environmental Services Group at our Headquarters facility in Millersville, MD. The ideal candidate will have knowledge/experience in stormwater design, permitting, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling. The candidate will work closely with Senior Engineers to develop effective stormwater management strategies that meet regulatory requirements and enhance environmental quality. Professional Engineer Certification is preferred.

Primary responsibilities may include: reviewing stormwater management (SWM) best management practice (BMP) designs for existing and future stormwater facilities; development of SWM concept designs; performing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM) to assess stormwater runoff, drainage patterns, and floodplain management; managing permitting processes for stormwater related projects; preparing construction cost estimates; presenting findings and recommendations to clients, stakeholders and regulatory agencies; overseeing project timelines and budgets. Experience with GIS software, geodatabases, surveying, and/or CAD programs is desirable.

Estimated Pay Range:

Assistant Engineer: $58,444.70 - $80,000.00
Associate Engineer: $64,289.46 - $88,000.00
Associate Engineer II: $70,718.27 - $97,000.00
Project Engineer: $77,789.80 - $106,500.00
Project Engineer II: $85,568.63 - $117,500.00

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum education requirements for each classification include a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Geotechnical, Electrical or other generally recognized field of engineering from an accredited college or university, plus:
• Assistant Engineer – No additional experience.
• Associate Engineer – Two years of applicable engineering experience.
• Associate Engineer II – Four years of applicable engineering experience
• Project Engineer - Six years of applicable engineering experience, two years of which include project or lead engineering project oversight.
• Project Engineer II – Eight years of related engineering experience, three years of which include project or lead engineering oversight and at least one year of experience managing staff.

A Master's degree in an engineering or applicable management discipline or a Professional Engineer license may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
