Job Description

The Working Lands Climate Corps Member position at Conservation Corps New Mexico is a full-time AmeriCorps internship focused on climate change, farming, and forestry. Members will gain hands-on experience in conservation, including tree planting and soil health initiatives, while receiving training in climate-smart agriculture. About the position

The Working Lands Climate Corps Member position is an AmeriCorps role focused on climate change, farming, and forestry/tree management. This full-time internship offers hands-on experience in conservation efforts, particularly in promoting soil health, watershed health, and tree planting initiatives. Members will receive training and support to develop technical skills and career pathways in climate-smart agriculture and forestry, while also contributing to community education and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities
• Learn about the Neighborwoods Program and receive training in tree planting and care.

• Assist staff with canvassing events to educate the public about different types of trees.
,
• Participate in tree planting events and work with teams to plant trees.
,
• Support the Health Soils Program by meeting with producers and observing planted cover crop areas.
,
• Prepare reports demonstrating the results of cover crop plantings with staff assistance.
,
• Assist in preparing materials for presentations at the Master Watershed Forum and setting up meeting spaces.
,
• Help finalize video recordings of presentations and upload files to the district website.

Requirements
• Must be eligible for AmeriCorps service.

• Interest in climate change, agriculture, and forestry.

• Ability to work in a team and engage with the public.

• Willingness to learn and participate in hands-on conservation activities.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in environmental education or outreach.
