About the position

The Sorter at WM is responsible for ensuring the proper placement and sorting of materials on the conveyor line. This role is essential for maintaining the efficiency of the recycling process and involves various physical tasks related to material handling and cleanliness of the work area.

Responsibilities
• Inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles or containers according to type, size, condition, coloring, or paper grade.

• Pull contaminants out of paper or off of the floor.

• Stack boxes and skids, and dump boxes and totes of material.

• Feed material, such as wastepaper, onto the conveyor.
,
• Clean up the conveyor and surrounding sorting line, keeping the work area clean.

• Read the monitor for machine startup and ensure the machine is operating properly and at a moderate speed.

• Follow appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operating and maintaining equipment.

• Report any worker-public safety factors and/or equipment malfunctions.
,
• Attend weekly/monthly safety/operations meetings.
,
• Perform other duties as assigned.
