Job Description
The ERM International Group Limited is seeking a Senior Managing Consultant for Environmental Health & Safety in Hartford, CT. The role requires a leader with at least 5 years of EHS regulatory compliance experience. Responsibilities include managing EHS projects, conducting audits, developing management systems, and fostering client relationships. Candidates should have a relevant degree or equivalent experience and strong project management skills. This position is not remote.
ERM is excited to announce an opening for a Senior Managing Consultant, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) within our expanding Sustainable Operations team. We are looking for a passionate leader with a background in environmental, health, and safety regulatory compliance and a minimum of 5 years of industry or consulting experience. This role offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with a global team aiming to tackle EHS challenges and enhance sustainability practices for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the formulation and execution of EHS Management Systems, conduct compliance assessments, and perform audits to ensure that risks are effectively managed while adhering to regulatory requirements.
• Oversee multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered within budget, scope, and timeline, while upholding high-quality standards.
• Conduct EHS compliance audits and implement corrective actions to align with federal, state, and local laws.
• Develop and manage environmental management systems and tailor programs for corporate clients.
• Create plans, permits, and procedures related to air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, stormwater, and wastewater management.
• Foster and expand client relationships that generate repeat business and contribute to the growth of the EHS team.
• Provide onsite compliance support at client facilities, guiding them through effective EHS practices.
• Mentor junior staff and appropriately delegate project tasks to ensure a collaborative team environment.
• Identify and cultivate new business opportunities, prepare compelling technical proposals, and play a vital role in expanding ERM's EHS business.
• Direct corporate EHS strategies and programs, aligning with client expectations regarding scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
• Inspire and lead team members to achieve the overall success of the EHS technical team.
• Build strong client relationships and nurture ongoing business by establishing a professional network within and outside ERM.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in engineering, environmental science, safety, business administration, or a related field, or 8+ years of related experience in lieu of formal education.
• A minimum of 5 years (preferably 7+) of relevant experience in EHS management, leadership culture, and sustainable compliance programs; consulting experience is advantageous.
• Expert knowledge in technical Safety, along with experience in Environmental areas such as Stormwater Pollution Prevention, Spill Protection, Emergency Planning, and Air Quality.
• Background in maintaining corporate management standards as either a consultant or an internal officer.
• Strong project management skills with experience in budget tracking and authority delegation.
• Ability to multitask, travel, and autonomously manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• A dedicated passion for EHS performance improvement, alongside extensive experience delivering top-tier EHS program solutions.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in drafting comprehensive technical reports.
• Valid driver's license required, as the role often necessitates travel to various client locations. A passport is also required for potential international travel.
• Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time to support client programs.
• Certification in relevant fields (CSP, PE, CHMM, etc.) is highly desirable.
