What You'll be Doing

• Researching, prototyping, validating, and iterating new algorithms
• Optimizing, supervising, and refining on-road performance for models on the path to production
• Supporting the hardware organization, including sensitivity studies for hardware selection and architecture investigations
• Mentoring high quality engineering, crafting solutions, and not just identifying problems

What You Must Have

• Solid understanding of computer vision fundamentals, including ML model development
• Ability to analyze perception models and experiments to support HW sensor development
• Proficiency in running, retraining, and evaluating Cruise perception machine learning models
• Competence in working independently and cross-functionally between HW and perception teams
• Hands-on experience with sensor data and experimental data, with knowledge of sensing physics and modalities
• Growing expertise with ML frameworks like Tensorflow, Caffe, and PyTorch
• Strong programming skills in Python, C, or other relevant languages
• Passion for self-driving car technology and its impact on the world

Bonus Points

• PhD in machine learning or computer science
• Research experience in computational cameras, physics-based computer vision systems, or related fields
• Industry experience in Machine Learning
• Expertise with ROS, OpenCV, Gazebo, or PCL
• Track record of deploying perception algorithms in real-world environments
• Knowledge of autonomous driving technologies

Salary Range

$139,400 - $205,000 (compensation may vary depending on location, knowledge, skills, and experience)
