Senior Agronomist - Modern Farming Techniques

Meenakshi (India) Limited is hiring a Senior Agronomist in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to manage the cultivation of exotic vegetables and fruits using hydroponics and modern farming techniques. The role requires a Bachelor's in Agriculture or Agronomy, with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include overseeing crop growth, managing production schedules, monitoring plant health, and ensuring sustainable practices. This is a full-time, in-person position.
Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Senior Agronomist with expertise in hydroponics, polyhouse farming, and modern farming methods to cultivate high-quality exotic vegetables and fruits. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in agricultural science and a track record of implementing innovative farming techniques for sustainable and efficient crop production.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the growth and management of exotic vegetables and fruits using advanced farming techniques, including hydroponics, polyhouse cultivation, and organic methods.
Develop, implement, and manage production schedules to optimize yield and quality of crops.
Monitor plant health, identify any issues such as nutrient deficiencies, pests, or diseases, and implement appropriate interventions.
Monitor plant health through disease and pest control strategies, ensuring sustainable and chemical-free solutions wherever possible.
Maintain high standards of crop quality, ensuring all produce meets market specifications.
Continuously research and implement improvements in farming processes to enhance yield, reduce waste, and ensure sustainability.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related field; a Masters degree is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in hydroponics, polyhouse farming, and modern cultivation techniques.
Strong knowledge of exotic vegetable and fruit crops and their specific growing requirements.
Proficiency in modern agricultural technology, tools, and software for crop management and monitoring.
Proven problem-solving skills and ability to adapt techniques to suit environmental conditions.
Language: Tamil, English (Hindi would be added advantage)
