Job Description

CEEW is hiring a Programme Associate (Climate Finance) in India. The role involves conducting research on adaptation finance, analyzing financial instruments, and synthesizing findings into reports. Responsibilities include qualitative and quantitative research, supporting stakeholder consultations, and preparing presentations. Candidates should have a Master's or Ph.D. in relevant fields and 4-5 years of experience in climate finance. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in research methodologies are essential.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Research and Analysis:
• Conduct desk-based research and literature reviews focused on adaptation finance, monitoring both global and national trends to identify key stakeholder narratives and priorities in the sector.
• Assist in identifying financial instruments, investment strategies, innovative financial models, and policy frameworks utilized globally and in India to enhance adaptation finance and bridge financing gaps.
• Synthesize research findings to produce high-quality deliverables, including reports, policy briefs, and journal articles.
• Perform qualitative research for projects, which includes:
• Conducting systematic evidence reviews and meta-analyses on adaptation finance.
• Supporting stakeholder consultations, high-level dialogues, and expert interviews to extract actionable insights.
• Applying qualitative tools to analyze narratives and frameworks, presenting them in structured formats.
• Carry out quantitative research focused on socio-economic and financial datasets, covering areas such as climate expenditure assessments, investment gap analysis, and scenario modeling.

Other Responsibilities:
• Support the estimation of adaptation finance gaps across sectors and regions by evaluating financial flows, risks, and benefits.
• Respond to information requests from senior researchers, synthesizing and analyzing data to support policy design and decision-making.
• Assist in preparing and delivering presentations, communication materials, and data visualizations for various audiences.
• Contribute to the organization and execution of events such as report launches, workshops, and roundtable discussions.
• Actively engage in team meetings and brainstorming sessions to develop innovative solutions to adaptation finance challenges.
• Provide insights into research methodologies and analytical tools for projects focused on adaptation finance and resilience building.

Qualifications:
• Master’s or Ph.D. in Finance, Green Economics, Environmental Economics, Investment Banking, Public Policy, Sustainable Development, or related fields.
• A strong background in climate finance, adaptation finance, or similar areas is highly desirable.

Experience:
• 4–5 years of experience in climate finance, development finance, investment analysis, or public policy research.

Key Skills:
• Strong analytical abilities and expertise in mixed-method research approaches (qualitative and quantitative) for policy evaluation, sectoral financial analysis, and climate risk assessments.
• Familiarity with qualitative literature review techniques and analysis software is a plus.
• Demonstrated interest in climate change adaptation, resilient infrastructure, disaster management, and associated financing mechanisms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other quantitative tools for financial modeling and socio-economic analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English.
• Effective time management and the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
