Job Description

The University of East Anglia is offering a PhD Studentship focusing on predicting and mitigating megafires under climate change. The project aims to address knowledge gaps by using satellite observations, machine learning, and climate datasets to forecast megafire risk globally. The successful candidate will work on developing a global dataset of individual fires, identifying megafire-prone conditions, and analyzing regional trends in megafire potential. The position requires a 2:1 Bachelor's degree or equivalent in numerate, computational, or environmental subject areas. The start date is 1 October 2024, with fully-funded ARIES studentship available for eligible candidates. International applicants are also welcome to apply.
