Cypress Creek Renewables is hiring an Origination Analyst in Chicago, IL, to support the commercialization of renewable energy projects. Responsibilities include market analysis, transaction support, and organizational tasks. The role involves analyzing market trends, conducting economic assessments, managing project documentation, and preparing marketing materials. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least one year of professional experience are required.

Overview

Cypress Creek Renewables is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our growing Origination team.The team commercializes the renewable energy projects developed by CCR through activities such as: market analysis, commercial strategy, customer identification, project marketing, deal structuring, contract negotiation, and more. The Origination Analyst will support in each of these areas, providing a well-rounded exposure to energy markets, the power industry, project development/financing, and energy contracting. The candidate will leverage strong organizational and project management capabilities to efficiently complete administrative tasks and ensure the team remains organized. The position will report to an Origination Director and will support the entire Origination team, providing interaction with nearly all US energy markets.

Responsibilities

Market Analysis/Reporting:
• Analyze market prices, support formulation of internal market views
• Research micro/macro market news and trends such as: growth in electricity demand from data centers, hydrogen, and electrification; corporate energy procurement strategies; GHG Protocol changes; utility Integrated Resource Plans; expanding wholesale (RTO) markets); etc.
• Create reports to communicate analytical findings to the broader organization

Transaction Support:
• Conduct excel-based analysis to assess economic risk/reward of transaction structures
• Support the development of innovative commercial structures to meet customer needs and to facilitate the development of solar and energy storage
• Assist in RFP responses across all regions – data collection and organization, document preparation, strategic support
• Support Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) contract execution by tracking REC inventory, onboarding new customers, and reviewing trade contracts. Additionally, provide supply/demand analysis for RECs in various US markets
• Own the post transaction administrative workstream for REC and other commodity trading activities, contracting and handoff to Asset Management

Organizational Support
• Build and maintain internal tools to track, analyze, and report commercialization efforts. Act as a project manager for various reporting and organization-focused workstreams (RFP tracking, metric/KPI tracking, project execution timelines, etc.)
• Prepare external-facing project marketing materials; collaborate cross-departmentally to collect and organize project data to be shared externally
• Support in creation of PowerPoint presentations for internal leadership discussion and external customer conversations
• Provide administrative support for the Origination team such as documentation management, counterparty onboarding, invoice management, etc.

Education & Experience Required

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Energy, Environmental Science, Engineering, Mathematics or other relevant field
• 1+ years of professional experience in energy, commodities, finance, or other relevant field
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Proficiency in PowerPoint
• Strong organizational and task management capabilities
• Strategic and commercial mindset
• Analytical capabilities
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including cross-functionally
• Resourcefulness to navigate ambiguity, leverage a variety of tools and data sources, and create solutions for dynamic problems
• Alignment with CCR’s mission to power a sustainable future, one project at a time

Desirable Qualifications (Associate level to be considered for highly qualified candidates):
• Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Energy, Sustainability, Mathematics or other relevant field
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience
• Advanced technical skills (particularly in excel; PowerBI/Tableau capabilities are also a plus)
• High-level financial modeling and project finance understanding
• Familiarity with energy markets, renewable energy, commodity transactions. Understanding of RECs/EACs, PPAs, battery tolls, etc.

Locations: The candidate will be based out of Chicago or New York, with a preference for Chicago. Hybrid work schedule (3/week in office).
