The Bumblebee Conservation Trust is seeking a part-time trainee for the Natur am Byth! Programme in Llanarthney, UK. The role involves conservation work on Goldilocks Aster, plant and bumblebee monitoring, and cross-pollination experiments over 8 months at a salary of £18,400 per annum. The trainee will work primarily at the National Botanic Garden and collaborate with fellow trainees and professionals in various projects.

Natur am Byth! Trainee position at BBCT

Salary £18,400 per annum / £1533.33 gross salary per month for 8 months (based on £23,000 full time equivalent)

Working pattern- 28 hours per week (4 days) for 8 months.

The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (the Trust) is looking for a part-time (28 hours/week) trainee for the Natur am Byth! Programme for 8 months.

This post will play a key role in the conservation of Goldilocks Aster in Wales. The trainee will learn about the care and propagation of the GA samples collected, and develop the skills required to undertake cross pollination experiments. The trainee will also help BBCT to undertake plant and bumblebee monitoring for the Shrill carder bee project.

You should have a demonstrable interest in nature conservation, and an interest in and ability to learn insect and plant identification skills. You should be able to work from the National Botanic Garden at least 3 days/week.

As part of the cohort of three Natur am Byth trainees, the person in this role will join fellow trainees on shared training and learning experiences. Each trainee will also have the opportunity to spend a fixed number of days working alongside professionals in up to two other projects within the Natur am Byth programme. This will ensure opportunities to experience working with a range of environmental organisations and gain knowledge of different species conservation issues.

This is a part-time post for 28 hours per week. Some overtime work may be required and a flexitime system is in place.

This post will be employed on a fixed term basis from 28th April until 28th December, based at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, at Llanarthney near Carmarthen.
