Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Laboratory Technician to join the Anatomical Pathology team as a Fixed Term Full Time or Part Time basis.
About Northern Health:
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our five main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.
About the Role:
This role would suit a passionate and experienced Laboratory Technician who enjoys working as part of a busy team to contribute to the production of high-quality work and participation on a rotating roster.
This position is fixed term until October 2025 covering maternity leave.
Based within the Anatomical Pathology team the key responsibilities would be (but not limited to); specimen handling, Embedding and Microtomy of FFPE tissue, data entry, equipment maintenance, block and slide filing, cytopathology preparation, mortuary duties and other general laboratory responsibilities
To be successful in this role you will have:
• A relevant diploma of applied science (Medical Laboratory), diploma or advanced diploma in laboratory technology or Laboratory Operations, currently studying an undergraduate or postgraduate in Laboratory Medical Science, or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in a diagnostic pathology laboratory and experience in histological techniques is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-changing environment, working both independently and as part of a time
• Have a high attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
