Job Description

Nelsen Partners is seeking a Junior Sustainable Design Specialist in Austin, TX, with 3-5 years of experience in sustainable design and building performance simulation. The role involves collaborating on sustainable design processes, supporting performance analysis, and preparing sustainability reports. Candidates should have LEED AP or BD+C accreditation, strong design skills, and proficiency in software such as SketchUp and Revit. This is a full-time position requiring teamwork and effective communication.
We are looking for a Junior Sustainable Design Specialist with interest in building performance simulation and life-cycle assessments. This is a position requiring proven success in sustainable design and extensive knowledge in energy and carbon reduction strategies.
• Assist in advancing and implementing sustainable design processes.
• Collaborate with multiple design teams, consultants, and clients on sustainable design and implementation.
• Support building performance analysis throughout the design process.
• Advocate for design decisions that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient.
• Research and stay up-to-date with the latest sustainable design technologies and methodologies.
• Aid in the administration and reporting of LEED and AEGB (Austin) projects through design and construction phases.
• Assist in monitoring and tracking project performance and reporting for the AIA 2030 commitment.
• Prepare sustainability exhibits for marketing and design award submissions.

ABOUT YOU:

LEED AP or BD+C Accreditation

Experienced.

3-5 years of commercial design experience, with a focus on sustainability and green building practices.

Knowledgeable.

Understanding of building science, sustainable design principles, and sustainability certifications such as LEED, AEGB (Austin), and WELL.

Design Skills.

Strong design fundamentals and communication skills

Technically skilled.

Technical understanding of building systems, codes, and construction documentation

Presentation Skills.

Capable communicator, able to assist in engaging and dynamic presentations with internal teams and clients/consultants.

Team-oriented.

Successful collaborator in a high-energy design team environment

Proficient.

Required: SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion, Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam.
