Responsibilities
• Inspect and provide consultation to establishments for compliance with state regulations.

• Review plans for new construction and modifications of regulated facilities to ensure compliance and make recommendations.

• Review plans for on-site sewage systems for various types of constructions.

• Respond to complaints regarding pollution, housing issues, and infestations, attempting to resolve problems through negotiation.

• Initiate legal action if necessary and refer issues to appropriate health department personnel.

• Serve as a resource for health environmentalist trainees or support staff.

• Identify regulatory infractions and recommend corrective actions.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree from a college or university with a minor or 24 semester hours in environmental health, biological or physical science, or registration as a Kentucky Environmental Specialist/Sanitarian.

• One year of experience performing on-site visits in environmental health.

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

• Must become registered under KRS 223 within six months of employment.
