About the Institute of Soil and Soul:

The Institute of Soil and Soul is a non-profit regenerative farm and educational center dedicated to cultivating food with integrity and purpose. We grow and distribute produce using regenerative-organic farming methods to communities with limited access to healthy food. In addition to food production, we aim to teach the principles and practices of regenerative agriculture to the general public. As a Jewish farm, we connect these practices with ancient Jewish wisdom, providing a meaningful opportunity for Jews and non-Jews alike to connect deeply with the land. Our farm is a space where education, community, and sustainable farming converge to create positive change.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate, reliable, and motivated Farm Hand to assist with various tasks on the farm. The position involves both hands-on agricultural work and the care of our farm’s diverse ecosystem, including our market garden, orchard, animals, and vineyard. The ideal candidate will have an interest in regenerative farming practices and be eager to learn in a collaborative environment. The position reports to the Head Farmer and the Executive Director.

Responsibilities:
• Harvesting, Planting, and Propagation: Assist with the planting, care, and harvesting of produce in our market garden, helping ensure a successful growing season.
• Orchard Care: Participate in the ongoing management and maintenance of the farm's fruit trees and berry bushes.
• Animal Husbandry: Collect eggs, care for chickens, and assist in general animal care.
• Vineyard Management: Support the management of the farm's experimental vineyard, including tasks like pruning, weeding, and harvesting.
• Washing and Packaging: Clean and package harvested produce for distribution to our community partners and markets.
• General Farm Maintenance: Assist with various farm-related tasks, including weeding, mulching, maintaining tools, and ensuring overall farm cleanliness.
• Support Educational Initiatives: Help facilitate educational programs and farm tours for visitors and participants interested in regenerative agriculture practices.

Qualifications:
• Experience: Previous experience in food production, agriculture, or horticulture is a plus but not required. We are open to individuals eager to learn.
• Physical Ability: Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions (heat, rain, or cold).
• Interest in Regenerative Agriculture: A passion for sustainable and regenerative farming practices is essential.
• Work Ethic: Must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Connection to Land and Community: A desire to contribute to a community-focused farm and connect to the land through agricultural work and Jewish teachings.

Schedule:
• Part-time, 15-20 hours per week.
• Seasonal work, running from April 1st through December 1st.
• Flexible hours, but some weekend work may be required.

Compensation:
• $20 per hour.

How to Apply:

Interested applicants should submit a resume and cover letter to admin@soilandsoulfarm.org. In your cover letter, please share your interest in regenerative agriculture practices and any relevant prior experience.

This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a meaningful and impactful farm, where you will contribute to both the land and the local community while learning more about regenerative farming and Jewish wisdom. We look forward to hearing from you!
