Executive Director Climate

About the Position

The Executive Director Climate Science Analytics and Adaptation will report directly to the Deputy Director General Climate. In this role, you will develop proactive and innovative climate change policies, offering expert strategic and technical advice to senior Government Officials including the Director General and Minister. Your responsibilities will include influencing the Government's climate change goals, contributing to policy development, and implementing climate adaptation and resilience programs. This position plays a crucial role in leading the department's contributions to inter jurisdictional policy development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop proactive and innovative climate change policies
  • Offer expert strategic and technical advice to senior Government Officials
  • Influence the Government's climate change goals
  • Contribute to policy development
  • Implement climate adaptation and resilience programs
  • Establish collaborative partnerships with agencies, government entities, industry partners, and the Commonwealth Government
  • Advocating for Queensland's climate ambitions
  • Foster a workplace culture of equity, diversity, respect, and inclusion

About You

We are seeking a leader with an agile and inspiring leadership style, committed to driving real and lasting change. You should have a high-level understanding of policy, regulatory, and commercial issues, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrable experience in leading policy initiatives and delivering innovative programs is crucial. Additionally, you should have impactful and persuasive communication skills to establish relationships with a broad range of partners and stakeholders.
