About the position

Kimley-Horn's Austin North, Texas office is seeking an Environmental Planner with over 5 years of experience to join their Environmental team. This position is not remote and requires a dedicated professional to prepare Environmental Quality Act documents, environmental impact reports, and negative and mitigated negative declarations. The Environmental Planner will assist in the development of Specific Plans, Master Plans, and other environmental or planning policy documents that support a full range of infill and land development-related projects. This role involves performing a variety of tasks that support various project managers while collaborating with team members. The successful candidate will likely gain expertise in areas such as sustainability, climate action planning, ENVISION, LEED, and Salmon-Safe practices. Additionally, the position will involve working on environmental clearance associated with local comprehensive plans and local land use planning, as well as engaging with infrastructure projects across various industries, including transportation, transit, land planning, and aviation.

Responsibilities
• Prepare Environmental Quality Act documents, environmental impact reports, and negative and mitigated negative declarations.

• Assist in Specific Plans, Master Plans, and other environmental or planning policy documents in support of land development projects.

• Support various project managers and collaborate with team members on environmental planning tasks.

Requirements
• Bachelor's (BS) or Master's (MS) in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Engineering, or a related degree.

• 5+ years of experience conducting environmental studies for local agencies and private entities.
,
• Experience with a wide range of tasks related to environmental planning.
,
• Understanding of the agencies involved with the Environmental Quality Act process and the state's Land Planning Law.
,
• Experience with NEPA compliance is a plus.
,
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
,
• Working knowledge of GIS/ArcView.
,
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
