Job Description

The Tsay Keh Dene Nation is seeking a full-time, seasonal Environmental Monitoring Technician to work in Tsay Keh Dene, BC. The role involves recording data on land and resources, assisting with environmental reports and plans, and conducting site visits. Candidates should have 1-3 years of experience in environmental monitoring and be physically capable of outdoor work. A valid BC Driver’s License is required.

Position Type: Full Time/Seasonal

Summary:

Working out of the Tsay Keh Dene office, the Environmental Monitoring Technician will be responsible for working with department staff to record information on land and resources such as water, soil, fish, wildlife, cultural sites, and current Tsay Keh Dene use to better understand the state of the land and identify community issues relating to its condition and use. He/she will assist in collecting information that can be used to update and enhance the current Tsay Keh Dene land use vision. Other duties may be required as requested by the Director of Land and Resources.

Job Duties:

· Contribute to the preparation of Environmental Field Reports.

· Assist with Environmental Protection Plans.

· Assist with Conservation and Reclamation Plans.

· Determine and coordinate resource requirements and liaise with resource coordinators.

· Coordinate and perform execution of work projects.

· Know, understand and communicate the safety regulations

· Identify specific risks associated with executing the planned activities.

· Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence

· Maintains inventory on equipment, supplies, and materials

· Conduct and attend meetings regarding safety, orientation, etc.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· Completion of Grade 12 education.

· 1-3 years of Environmental Monitoring experience preferred.

· Combination of education and experience will be considered.

· Ability to work in a team environment in a worksite setting.

· Physically capable of carrying out monitoring duties (light to moderate hiking, light to moderate lifting)

· Valid BC Driver’s License and Driver’s Abstract Clearance

Working Conditions:

· Work requires manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detail.

· Occasionally conducts site visits requiring prolonged standing or walking, negotiation of obstacles, and bending or stooping.

· Travel required.

· Exposure to the outdoors in remote areas for long periods of time

· Overtime as required and approved only.

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 7 months

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week

Schedule:
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed

Work Location: On the road
