Job Description

ERM is seeking a senior Biologist in Irvine, CA, to lead biological expertise for large-scale utility projects. Responsibilities include preparing CEQA and NEPA documents, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and mentoring junior scientists. The ideal candidate should have experience with wildlife and habitats in California, strong leadership and project management skills, and technical writing proficiency. This is primarily a desk-based role with occasional fieldwork.
Position Summary:

Environmental Resources Management (ERM) is seeking an experienced Biologist to join our team. As a senior biologist, you will be responsible for providing biological expertise and leadership for large-scale utility projects in northern California. Your primary role will be to lead on preparation of CEQA and NEPA documents, ESA Biological Assessments, CDFW 1602 permits, and more.

The ideal candidate will have a wide breadth of experience with wildlife, plants, and habitats in central and northern California. They must have proven leadership, project management, organization, and communication skills. Additionally, they should have excellent technical writing skills and knowledge of environmental regulations and policies such as ESA, CESA, and the California Coastal Act.

This is primarily a desk-based role, with opportunities for occasional fieldwork. You will become part of a vibrant technical community with more than 1,000 IAP professionals globally, representing the full range of technical disciplines.

Responsibilities:
• Lead on preparation of CEQA and NEPA documents.
• Responsible for ensuring project compliance with environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
• Review Biological Resource Assessments.
• Mentor early career scientists and provide technical QA/QC assistance on deliverables.
