Job Description

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at Satellite Industries in Cleveland, GA, is responsible for developing and monitoring safety programs to ensure a compliant workplace. SUMMARY:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist plays a critical role in promoting a safe and compliant workplace. This position involves developing, implementing, and monitoring effective health and safety programs to safeguard employees, the community, and the environment. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, risk management, and emergency response strategies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and coordinate engaging safety training programs to ensure all team members are well-informed on safety practices, emergency protocols, and compliance regulations.
• Lead the safety committee in creating and revising safety policies to promote a secure work environment.
• Conduct routine monitoring and assessment of workplace practices to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
• Perform thorough risk assessments to identify and address potential hazards in the workplace.
• Investigate accidents and incidents to uncover root causes, collaborating with HR to recommend effective corrective actions.
• Manage the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials to mitigate exposure risks.
• Coordinate with HR and management for effective emergency response strategies, including drills and real-time incident management.
• Maintain accurate safety records and documentation, including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Serve as the main contact for regulatory agencies, ensuring all environmental and safety standards are met.
• Collaborate across departments to integrate EHS practices into operations and projects.
• Encourage a proactive safety culture by promoting the identification and resolution of safety concerns.
• Maintain records of employee exposure to hazardous waste and pollutants as required.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: At least 3 years of experience in EHS, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial context.
• Certifications: Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent is highly preferred.
• Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
