About the position

The Environmental Compliance Specialist at Reworld is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and implementing environmental management systems at the York, Pennsylvania facility. This role emphasizes environmental stewardship and community commitment, focusing on managing environmental data, compliance assessments, and liaising with regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities
• Manage the Environmental Management Information System (EMIS) including all permit required tasks and data entry.

• Review and analyze data from air quality continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS) and other environmental monitoring systems.

• Support environmental testing projects including air emissions testing, water sampling, and ash residue testing, including reviewing laboratory reports.
,
• Perform environmental compliance assessments, including plant walkdowns and inspections, documenting compliance status, and providing training on compliance management requirements.
,
• Act as the primary liaison with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
,
• Negotiate environmental approval conditions to maximize operating flexibility.
,
• Prepare and submit all permit and required environmental reports to regulatory bodies.
,
• Maintain key environmental records and documents.
,
• Monitor regulatory changes affecting operations and build relationships with agency personnel.
,
• Develop and maintain environmental policies and procedures for the facility.
,
• Train, mentor, and direct personnel to achieve environmental performance goals.
,
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for noncompliant Environmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and resolve action items.
,
• Audit facility environmental activities and escalate out-of-control KPIs/activities.
,
• Monitor production and maintenance activities to ensure environmental compliance during scheduled outages.
,
• Develop and track environmental project budgeting.
,
• Audit downstream facilities such as metal recyclers and landfills.
,
• Participate in environmental associations and community engagement.
,
• Deliver presentations to staff, visitors, and regulators.
,
• Engage in Continuous Improvement projects to enhance environmental processes.
,
• Assist with environmental duties at other facilities as needed.
,
• Direct and distribute work tasks to the Environmental Intern.

Requirements
• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, environmental science, or an equivalent field, preferred.

• 5 or more years' experience in the environmental permitting/compliance field.
,
• Working knowledge of federal environmental regulations in air, waste, and water.
,
• Ability to work cooperatively with regulatory authorities.
