SBM Development - Streamline is hiring a Director of Logistics and Distribution in Houston, TX. This role involves overseeing logistics functions, optimizing supply chain processes, and leading a team to ensure efficient goods movement and high customer satisfaction. The position requires a bachelor's degree and extensive experience in logistics, team management, and vendor relationships. Responsibilities include budget management, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
Job Summary:

We are seeking a leader to join us as Director of Distribution and Logistics to oversee the strategic planning, management, and execution of distribution and logistics functions at SBM Life Science. The Director, Distribution and Logistics ensures efficient and cost-effective movement and storage of goods, while optimizing supply chain processes and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. The Director will lead a team of logistics professionals and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve operational goals and objectives. This role requires a freight and distribution expert with demonstrated success leading teams in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. This leader would join us to build a supply chain to support sustainable growth, improving profitability through cost management and efficient operations and developing a culture of collaboration of continuous improvement.

This role will oversee a team with 5 direct reports.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, transportation, economics, business administration, sciences, or a similar field
• 7+ years in Logistics, Distribution and Transportation
• Experience establishing strategic relationships with key customers and Logistics service suppliers.
• 5+ years' Experience managing teams and multi-site operations.
• Experience serving big box, home improvement and mass merchant preferred.
• Experience Managing multiple strategic and complex projects effectively.
• Technical and applied understanding of Logistics software and warehouse management systems.

Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to cross collaborate at all organizational levels
• Strong negotiating and sourcing skills and the ability to create new relationships and cultivate existing ones.
• Ability to work independently and proactively.
• Strong written and oral presentation skills.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Supply Chain Management: Develop, implement, and oversee the company's logistics and distribution strategies to ensure the efficient movement of goods to meet customer's requirements.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the distribution and logistics team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
• Operational Excellence: Optimize warehouse operations and inventory management, ensuring accurate and timely fulfillment of orders.
• Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with third-party logistics providers, carriers, and other key partners to negotiate contracts and service agreements.
• Cost Control: Develop and manage the logistics budget, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategies to reduce expenses without compromising service quality.
• Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics and distribution operations.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies regarding transportation and logistics.
• Technology Integration: Leverage technology to enhance logistics processes, including the implementation of warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS).
• Customer Service: Lead the customer service team in resolving distribution or logistics-related issues and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Risk Management: Identify potential risks within the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies to avoid or minimize disruptions.
• Sustainability Initiatives: Promote and implement sustainable logistics practices to reduce the environmental impact of distribution activities.

Travel Requirements:

This role will have up to 25% domestic travel yearly with occasional overnights expected.
