Job Description

The Las Vegas Valley Water District is seeking a Conservation Intern for a temporary position based in Las Vegas, NV. The role involves engaging with conservation customers, conducting fieldwork, and performing office tasks such as data entry and using ArcGIS. Candidates must be enrolled in an Environmental Studies or related program, have a minimum GPA of 2.0, and possess a valid Nevada driver’s license. The hourly pay ranges from $16 to $20, with a maximum of 25 hours per week. Applications must be completed in detail by the specified deadline.

Salary: $16.00 - $20.00 hourly (based on education level)

Hours of Work: Up to 25 hours weekly between M-F (occasional weekend), 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

INTRODUCTION: Human Resources will screen applications and supplemental questionnaires. Candidates meeting the eligibility requirements will be forwarded to the hiring department for further review. Those who possess the strongest skills and experience will be invited by the Hiring Department for an interview.

Note: The successful candidate will be required to pass a drug screening and a background check.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate for this position would possess customer service experience, good driving record, ability to explain complex documents and processes, and can handle working outdoors throughout the year.

GENERAL PURPOSE: The position will meet conservation customers regarding participation in programs; carry out field work such as measuring turf, driving around valley, and meeting with customers; and fulfill office work including drawing with ArcGIS and data entry.

ELIGIBILITY/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Environmental Studies, Landscape Architecture, Business, or a closely related field
Current enrollment with a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester (undergraduate level) or 3 credit hours per semester (graduate level)
Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
Available to work up to 25 hours weekly
A valid Nevada driver's license
Legal right to work in the US, including authorization to work off-campus
