MGA | Michael Green Architecture is seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist for construction administration, primarily supporting projects on Vancouver Island. The role requires a self-motivated individual with strong communication and organizational skills. Candidates can work on-site in Victoria or Vancouver. Responsibilities include preparing construction documents, reviewing site compliance, and collaborating with project teams. A relevant degree and 5 years of experience are preferred, with a salary range of $70,000 - $90,000.
We are looking for an experienced Architectural Technologist to focus on construction administration in support of our current and upcoming projects, primarily on Vancouver Island. Our ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work independently. The role can be based on-site at our office location in Victoria or Vancouver.

About The Role

This position executes a multitude of varied tasks and requires a self-directed, independent individual with excellent communication, organization, and time management skills who is both personable and professional.

The salary range offered for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 per year. The total compensation plan additional items such as an adventure bonus, education allowance, and a comprehensive health/dental program.

Responsibilities
• Prepare contract and construction phase documents, and coordinate, collect, assemble, and review all contract change documents from multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of detailed production drawings and models, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
• Review construction site for general conformance of contract documents and building codes, and enforce all aspects of the construction documents.
• Review construction progress through the project including preparation of progress draws and substantial completion.
• Organize and attend regular construction meetings with contractors and owners.
• Collaborate with MGA design team, sub-consultants, and stakeholders as required.
• Exercise independent judgement and analysis of significant issues and find a resolution.
• Enhance MGA’s technical team’s skillsets by contributing to our detail and technical standards within the practice.

Skills And Experience
• Diploma or Degree from an accredited Architecture or Technology program.
• Registration with the AIBC is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant architectural contract administration experience across a broad range of project types including multi-family and commercial.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal management oversight.
• Ability to understand the broader architectural intents of the project and translate them to consistent detailing and execution on site.
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills required.
• In-depth knowledge of building codes and construction procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Outlook, and complex Excel spreadsheets, as well as Construction phase software such as Procore, Part3, etc.
• Revit and AutoCAD experience is required.
• Experience with wood-frame and mass timber construction is an asset.
